SUMMER INDIE MUSIC SERIES AT THE CAPE CINEMA

Over 30 years ago the Cape Cinema became one of a handful of theaters to play independent films on a regular basis. It has since developed a national reputation for its eclectic programming of cutting edge films. So it is not surprising that we are embracing the exciting new wave of independent live pop music with a unique series of concerts this summer.

The venue is a 300 seat Art Deco theater with individual arm chairs, corked side walls and a 3,000 foot ceiling mural designed by the legendary Rockwell Kent. Since the 1930’s it has frequently hosted classical and contemporary musicians, who have raved about the theater’s acoustics. In fact these acoustics are so good that for over 50 years a 35 watt amplifier was all that was needed for film showings. The system has now been upgraded to Dolby Digital.

Artists will find one of the must beautiful and acoustically rich small performance venues in the country, with a sit-down audience who is there to listen to their music with no distractions, a full state of the art professional light and sound system, and an owner-operator who takes a personal interest in each artist’s performance.

The audience will find a unique place to gather and hear some of the very best in independent music this summer in an intimate setting where the artists and the music are allowed to shine.
